Jessica Laliberté

Who is Jess from the TAIGA club?

I'm a nature lover who literally runs on solar energy. I love water and snow, lakes and mountains. I teach yoga on land and on the water...on a SUP, obviously. I love good coffee and good wine, I talk loudly, I laugh even louder, and most of all, I love doing all this in good company. I am fortunate to live in a beautiful playground, the Eastern Townships. That’s where I founded Flore et Flow, an outdoor yoga school.

When you don’t have both feet in the water, what do you do?

I run my business and work at a climbing and yoga centre in Magog. In my spare time, I enjoy snowboarding, cross-country skiing, rock climbing and yoga. Otherwise, I love to cook and care for my millions of plants.

What is your favorite spot (on the water, obviously) and why?

Lake Bowker

This is the lake where I spent my childhood. My grandfather built a house there and my parents still live in it today. The water is so clear that you can see the shadow of your SUP at the bottom of the lake.

Your go-to TAIGA board(s) and why?

Since I practice a lot of SUP yoga, I obviously like the Awen but I discovered the Kanoa last summer and it is my new favorite.

Otherwise for the calm water and the look, I'm tripping on my ALL WOOD BLACK but I don't know if I have the right to say it since there is only one and it's mine hihi!

If you could choose one ‘dream destination’ for paddleboarding, where would it be and why?

I've been dreaming of going to Tofino and exploring the turquoise lakes of BC for a long time.

If you had one piece of advice to give to a rookie who doesn't know the wonderful world of water sports yet, what would it be?

Jump into the water as soon as you can. If you're already wet, you won't be afraid of falling.
