Who is Jane-Ann from the TAIGA club?
I have a million different passions and I always have a new project brewing. I am extremely spontaneous (perhaps even impulsive). I like new things and throwing myself into the unknown. I like people: my family is what matters most to me. I also love meeting all kinds of different people and listening to their stories. I need a good balance between being in nature and in the city. I love the fast-paced vibe of the city life and its infinite possibilities, but I also need to spend quite a bit of time in nature, on a frequent basis, in order to feel complete.
When you don’t have both feet in the water, what do you do?
I work full-time for my SUP school, Les Vagues, located in Havre-Saint-Pierre. During the winter, I take on small freelance contracts here and there. I normally work extensively, but I do give myself little breaks to take strolls in nature with my dog, to go on weekend getaways with my boyfriend or friends, to do some yoga, to go to the restaurant or to go to the museum.
What is your favorite spot (on the water, obviously) and why?
The Marteau Islands at Havre-Saint-Pierre. Located right in front of our kiosk, you will find the Big Marteau Island, as well as the Small Marteau Island, both home to magnificent cliffs and limestone rocks, typical of the Mingan Archipelago region. During each excursion, we encounter whales, seals, porpoises, and marine birds. Navigating around these two islands is magical every time!
Your go-to TAIGA board(s) and why?
At Les Vagues, we have 4 different types of TAIGA boards, and I often enjoy alternating between each one of them depending on the activity at hand. For example, when the water is calm and I want to bring my dog with me, I like the Awen due to its stability. However, when the water is more agitated, I like using the Hana for its manoeuvrability and efficiency within the waves.
If you could choose one ‘dream destination’ for paddleboarding, where would it be and why?
Lake: Lake Tahoe for its clear water and breathtaking scenery
