Alex Lépine
Who is Alex from the TAIGA club?
I’m a father of a 1-year-old girl with a 9 to 5 job, who jumps on every opportunity to spend time on the water.
I’m fortunate enough to live near the Rivière-des-Milles-Îles in Laval, and on the weekends, I head to the Laurentians. I try to spend as much time as possible on the water.
I’ve also had the chance to travel and photograph Iceland. and tour the United States, from Chicago to California, to test out different waters with my TAIGA board. I’m looking forward to resuming travel in 2021, and this time, with my family.
When you don't have both feet in the water, what do you do?
I’m a content creator for various companies, and I tend to half an hectare of land on which we try to grow vegetables, and take care for our chickens.
What is your favorite spot (on the water obviously)?
The most beautiful place where I’ve had the chance to paddle board is at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. The simplistic landscape is fixed in ice and everywhere you look are curious seals. If I had to choose a warmer location, I would say Lone Rock, USA, in the middle of Utah.
Your go-to board(s)? Why?
My go-to is my Kazuzu inflatable paddle board. It’s easy to travel with and comfortable enough space-wise for when I need to do a photo shoot on the water. I would also recommend the Wakesurf Skim 4'8'', which I love riding when I go boating!
If you could choose one ‘dream destination’ for paddleboarding, where would it be and why?
I'd love to visit Alaska. Paddleboarding at the heart of its glaciers and desert landscape must be breathtaking.
If you had one piece of advice to give to a rookie who doesn't know the wonderful world of water sports yet, what would it be?
Just go outside and try it! The wonderful thing about paddle boarding is that it can be practiced in the city or in the wild, and as a group or solo. You just can’t be afraid to fall in the water!
