Vincent Dion
Who is Vincent from the TAIGA club?
I am a paddleboard passionate – it is a sport that I have been practicing for several years now in Quebec, being able to surf the waves. I partake in several competitions every year, mainly in Hawaii and Japan. I have been deaf since birth. I have had the pleasure of surfing in many different countries, notably in Australia. Having lived in Hawaii for a year, I split my time between Hawaii and Quebec to visit friends over there.
When you don’t have both feet in the water, what do you do?
I often snowboard. I also meditate every day. When the temperature permits, I like to meditate at the bottom of the waterfalls next to my house. I also train through different methods: running, fitness, biking, etc.
What is your favorite spot (on the water, obviously) and why?
My favourite spot is on Maui Island. There are a lot of people that practice SUP over there. It is a calm place and the waves are perfect for SUP surf.
Your go-to TAIGA board(s) and why?
I use the paddleboard Racer 14’0. I love the speed of this board, it always impresses me during competitions. It allows me to participate in several competitions, such as Molokai2Oahu, SUP Japan Cup and California Cup. When the wind is strong on Lac Brome, I love chasing the waves and confronting the winds to exercise my strength.
If you could choose one ‘dream destination’ for paddleboarding, where would it be and why?
My dream is to paddleboard on the Okinawa Islands. It is a mini paradise! I would also love to practice SUP in Tahiti.
